MEET FATIMA
Fatima Goga is the fertility counsellor and coach behind LWP Fertility, a Durban-based practice supporting people through every stage of the fertility journey — from trying to conceive, through treatment, to family-building decisions and, where needed, grief and loss. Her approach is personal as much as professional: she describes infertility as “one of the biggest turning points” in her own life, an experience that now informs how she works with clients.
Fatima brings together training across counselling, coaching and holistic health, including registration as a Generalist Counsellor, specialist fertility counselling accreditation, and further training in perinatal mental health, pregnancy and infant loss, and integrative and holistic health approaches. She describes her role as “part Coach, part Practitioner, part Counsellor and part Mentor,” working in a solution-focused way that aims to build clients’ own capacity rather than dependency on ongoing sessions.
LWP Fertility (short for Live With Purpose) was founded in 2017 and covers a wide range of situations: trying to conceive, IVF support, fertility preservation, donor-assisted conception, single parenthood, older parenthood, adoption readiness, pregnancy after infertility, and counselling for donor-conceived children and couples. Sessions are available in person in Durban or online via Zoom for clients elsewhere in South Africa and internationally.
WHO IT’S FOR
Fatima’s work suits anyone navigating fertility challenges — whether trying to conceive, going through IVF, considering donor conception or surrogacy, processing pregnancy loss, or preparing for adoption. It’s also suited to single women and older prospective parents exploring their options, couples working through infertility together, and donor-conceived individuals wanting to explore their origins. Sessions are offered one-on-one, with options for couples counselling where relevant.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Most one-on-one sessions begin with an in-depth 4-hour session, giving space for both the emotional and practical sides of a fertility journey to be addressed, with shorter 2-hour sessions available for more focused topics like pregnancy after infertility or general wellness support. IVF clients can opt for a fuller package with follow-up sessions over 12 to 18 months. Donor-conceived children’s counselling runs in 60-minute sessions, adjusted to the individual. Sessions are available in person in Durban or online via Zoom, so location isn’t a barrier to getting support.
